He was born in Valencia. A law graduate and a notary by profession since 1966, he devoted much of his spare time to creative writing, which he took up in 1976. His work as a notary also provided him with a unique vantage point from which to gain an in-depth understanding of the conflicts of interest that arise amongst human beings and the legal context in which they occur.

For many years, remaining true to his vocation as a writer, he enjoyed friendships with some of the most renowned figures of his time, such as: Vicente Aleixandre, Carlos Bousoño (who dedicated his entire body of poetry to him), José Hierro, Francisco Brines, Paco Nieva, Claudio Rodríguez, Alfredo Bryce Echenique and others.

From 1978, Carmen Balcells served as his literary agent until 1988, when, for personal reasons, he decided to publish his work independently, a practice he continued until his death.

From 2002 onwards, he devoted himself to revising the texts of his novels previously published in Spain to facilitate their translation into English. His friends, great writers of his generation, advised him to open up his literature to the English-speaking world. He had revised his novels, refining them, making them easier to read, and replacing the more obscure passages with clearer ones, so that the reader could glide through them without any stumbling blocks.
